Letters should be short and to the point (less than 250 words).

All letters must carry the author’s full name, address and daytime telephone number for verification purposes.

Letters must also have the author’s full name and address for publication. The News will only consider withholding these details if the letter regards a particularly personal issue and the author’s name has been provided in confidence.

If a letter directly quotes another source, The News requires a copy of the written document or reference details. For example: (Herald Sun, 29/7/02, page 9).

The News reserves the right to edit, or not publish, any letter for legal purposes and space restrictions.
